Supervised scanning
Practise core views and image optimisation on live models with guidance from the teaching team.
PETERBOROUGH · 5 DECEMBER 2026
British Society of Echocardiography endorsed course
Supporting preparation for the BSE Level 1 accreditation pathway.
Practical skills. Personal guidance.
A practical day of live scanning, simulation and image interpretation, with small-group teaching to develop your approach to focused echocardiography.

COURSE SUPPORTED BY

WHO IT’S FOR
For anyone with basic transthoracic echocardiography experience, including those working in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, Acute and General Medicine, and Cardiology.
The course welcomes participants working towards BSE Level 1 accreditation, as well as those wishing to develop their practical echocardiography skills without currently pursuing formal accreditation.
For those choosing the accreditation pathway, the teaching supports further supervised practice, completion of the required logbook with a designated mentor, and preparation for the BSE practical assessment.
Course attendance does not itself confer accreditation or establish competence for independent practice. Further clinical scanning should remain within your competence and local supervision and governance arrangements.
Basic echocardiography experience is required. You should be familiar with probe handling, basic cardiac anatomy and the standard transthoracic echo views.
Existing BSE accreditation or independent scanning experience is not required. If you are completely new to echo, please contact us before booking to discuss whether this course is suitable. Ask about suitability.
